Processing polymers such as PFA/FEP/PP/PVDF by injection moulding is extremely critical as the process requires close
monitoring with controlled heating and cooling of the assemblies during the entire moulding stage
For this reason Horizon had set up in the very beginning a full fledged in-house facility comprising of equipments for
pre-heating the Cast Housings and lining the same using a semi-automatic special purpose injection moulding
machine with transfer system where injection & transfer of plasticised material is done under ISO THERMAL
condition. This facility is unique and the only one of its kind in India and has its own advantages over the conventional
method of lining where Transfer Moulding System are used.
The design for assembling the tooling ensures that the mandrels are centrally located when assembled inside the
Cast Housing and maintain this position during the entire moulding state. This ensures that every fitting/cast body will
have a uniform lining thickness and will also ensure zero residual stress.
The lining technique also ensures that the liner has a very close fit inside the Cast Housing which is very important for high vacuum ratings.
